With effort and dedication, our students are able to achieve significant score increases. One-on-One instruction has proven to be much more effective than classroom courses. Our instructors will schedule appointments when it is convenient for you, be it the afternoon, evening, or weekend. We can start instruction as long as there is a reasonable amount of time before the test so that we will be able to thoroughly cover the material. We look forward to helping you achieve great results! (back to top)
What is the price of the ACT or SAT Main Full Program, and what does it include?
The program fee for our ACT/SAT Main Full Program is $2,399. This fee includes 30 hours of one-on-one, in-home instruction, Math, Reading, and Writing (and Science) course manuals developed by ACE, real ACT or SAT practice booklets that you will use for homework and practice, and our own homework exercises. At no additional cost, we also provide Diagnostic Tests where you will take actual ACT or SAT tests just as you will on the day of the test. This simulation will not only provide you with exposure to the test itself, but will also allow you to become comfortable with the testing and time constraints. If you have test-taking anxiety, this will be an invaluable way for you to learn to overcome your nerves, bringing you one step closer to reaching your goal. (back to top)
How many weeks will it take for me to complete the ACE program?
The program length will vary depending upon the particular program in which you enroll. We recommend starting course work for the ACT or SAT Main Full Program at least twelve weeks before the test date to allow for sufficient time to absorb and master the material. Due to our long-standing reputation in this industry, our instructors are in high demand and book up very quickly as test dates draw near. We highly recommend that you call as early as possible. How will you tailor the program to meet my individual needs?
Every student is unique with different personalities, schedules, study styles, and needs, as well as varying strengths and weaknesses. This is something that we recognize, and as a result, we base our company's approach on this idea by tailoring our programs around you, the individual. Based on previous ACT or SAT score reports and/or how you score on the initial diagnostic test, ACE will ascertain your particular strengths and weaknesses. We can determine if you are stronger in either math or verbal, on which types of questions you perform better, how timed testing affects you, and more. As your instructors spend more time with you, they will be able to better establish which learning techniques and strategies are best for you. ACE will also personalize the program with regard to session length and frequency of appointments. We know that as a high school student, you have a fast-paced schedule which includes not only your academic obligations, but also extracurricular activities. (back to top)
Will ACE teach me test-taking strategies?
Yes! ACE will teach you certain techniques that will help you raise your score by providing you with alternative methods for answering the questions. Your ACE instructors will teach you test-taking techniques and pacing strategies, as well as provide you with a solid review of the fundamentals. You will then be able to apply these test-taking techniques on your homework and full-length Diagnostic Tests so that you will become more comfortable with the test-taking experience. (back to top)
How much homework will be expected of me?
The amount of homework assigned and the time needed to complete the homework varies from student to student. Homework can take anywhere from one to two hours between sessions to complete, depending upon how well you are absorbing the information and mastering the material. Homework will include vocabulary enhancement, math drills, and practice test-taking with real ACT or SAT practice test booklets. Completing all homework assignments between appointments with your instructor is an integral part of achieving significant score increases. ACE provides the tools, but it is up to YOU to master and apply them. Unfortunately, we can't take the test for you! (back to top)
Where do you get your course materials?
All of our materials have been developed and perfected over the last 30 years by the Executive Director, George Yuster. George is one of the top ACT & SAT experts in the nation. By analyzing hundreds of previously administered ACTs & SATs, he knows what concepts are tested and the best way to attack the questions. Our materials include Math, Reading, and Writing (and Science) course manuals, real ACT and SAT practice test booklets, and comprehensive homework exercises. We offer thorough programs which cover all aspects of the ACT or SAT. (back to top)
What are the Diagnostic Tests, and how many will I be able to take?
All of our Diagnostic Tests are real ACTs or SATs from past years that we administer to you in order to pinpoint where your strengths and weaknesses are. We will also use these diagnostic tests to monitor your progress throughout the program. They can be taken (free of charge) while you are working with your instructor. (back to top)
Who are your instructors?
Our instructors are math experts and verbal experts who have studied at the nation's top universities. Not only have they scored in the top percentiles, they are the finest in the industry due to our selective initial screening process and extensive training which spans approximately 30 hours per subject. Our instructors have all demonstrated a natural teaching ability and are required to teach material to us before they are ever sent out with a student. (back to top)
Can I switch instructors?
We work very hard to ensure a great match right from the beginning by selecting your instructors based on information that you provide. As a result, switching instructors is rarely necessary. As wonderful as all of our instructors are, however, it is impossible to predict unforeseen personality conflicts. We are out for your best interest, and if a conflict does arise, please let us know, and we will switch your instructor immediately. (back to top)
When and where are my appointments?
That is one of the best things about our program. Our instructor(s) will work around your schedule and meet with you at your convenience, be it in the afternoon, evening, or on weekends. You can set your appointments all at once in the beginning of the program or set them from appointment to appointment; it is entirely up to you! You are never locked into one time. For best results, we recommend that you meet with an instructor at least once a week so you maintain a consistent grasp on the information. Our only requirement as far as scheduling is concerned is that you give your instructor(s) at least 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule. (back to top)
How long will my appointments be?
Session length is dependent upon you and how you are absorbing the material. If you are close to the test date, sessions will tend to be two hours in length, whereas if you have more time to work, sessions might be shorter. If you are not feeling well one night or have a test in school the next day, we can work a shorter session. There are no cookie-cutter sessions and no pre-set session lengths. (back to top)
Do you work with students with learning disabilities?
Yes! The one-on-one aspect of our programs allows us to be well-equipped to work with students who have all different needs. We have worked with numerous students who require extended time or untimed testing. (back to top)
When should I start preparing for the ACT or SAT?
As a rule of thumb regarding preparation is that the greater amount of time you allow for it, the better. More time allows for better absorption and comprehension of the material, and this leads to a better mastery of the ACT or SAT. A minimum of twelve weeks is required for effectiveness with the ACT or SAT Main Full Program. Please call the ACE office to find out when you should start specific ACE programs. (back to top)
